Shadowlines
Mountains are my thing --
and yet --
there is something
about redrock --
The scallop of its laughlines
from a distance --
The moods cast and recast
by every jutting brow,
chin and knee –
Like a thousand salutations
to beauty –
the lay posture of the
monumental --
While a rutting sun
flushes clouds across
vertical plains.
