Just Light
A crescent moon
in a morning teal sky --
the clarity of color
like a knowledge of God
not contained by books.
The stimulus of fall
is past and I am empty --
a pot missing its lid,
waiting to be filled with
what may be only light
through barren woods,
winter’s cool calm
lowering life’s fever --
a channel of peace found
only here, only now --
where absence of color
intensifies, snow and sky
blending to create that
place of listening quiet,
and deep finding.
