The other day,
I knelt to gather
empty walnut shells,
fascinated by the
intricate details of
their wrinkled interiors--
The symmetry and variation,
just like human faces --
the neatly emptied capsule,
a personal history --
from the purloined seed
to the nesting design.
Both cradle & grave --
and cradle again.
As all things are.
Anima, animas.
And all that have
preceded.
