Roots and Rocks and Bears, Oh My!
A perfect start to
a Saturday morn --
The sun doffing
her winter visor,
the trees fluttering
furnace-fresh.
Underfoot, acorns
free of their jaunty
chapeaux,
pink-veined milky quartz,
the layered sheen of
earthy feldspar--
more fetching in place
than collected. And we're
not the only ones about –
it’s a simpatico
meet-and-greet as we
trudge the deft light --
Until we reach the
mountaintop playground --
still waiting for bikes.
Overhead, a sapphire
sky keeps us close --
A good day begun.
