Pirate Buffalo
This is tidewater Virginia --
land of loblolly pines,
oyster shell paths,
blue heron and crab pots.
So, a bounteous home
of traditional detail
overlooking a restrained
marsh is a striking picture
given the quarter-scale
concrete bison standing
with outsize dignity
in the front flower bed,
wearing his panache
with an eye patch, as
the spooky season is
upon us – but it's really
Dances With Wolves
meets Margaritaville-
The only thing missing
is the parrot.
