The Real Real

Quantum physics observes 
that the real action of the
universe occurs not in the 
hulk of a spinning Saturn
but in the space between 
its rings and moons, and 
their reactive dance with
one another.

Mystics note that the reality
of the material world is 
where spirit is truly revealed. 
St. Francis’ gaze bent 
earthward, to the glory 
unfolding daily beneath  
his humble feet.

When architects sketch, 
they play with the relationship 
of design features to one another,
including "negative space" and
shadow lines, the latter driven 
by the sun striking projections 
at an edge, junction or 
fenestration --

Such that the intersection
of light and structure conjures
the actual drama of design.

Not so different from a yard 
filled by two children playing.
