Just For Fun

July 27, 2021

Yesterday, we had a nice little storm roll through — and well, I just couldn’t help myself. There are far too many apps for that.

The Weather is Too Much with Us

Here
at 4 p.m. on a July afternoon
it has fallen so dark
from an incoming storm
that all lamps are lit —
a veritable spotlight

on the bullseye
of a radar target,
within the confines

of the inevitable
Red Box of Danger
as determined by
official weather officials.

The air spits and crackles
with unstable energy,
rumblings cascade
northwest to southeast–
but nothing worth alarm

so long as the clouds
pulsate purple and
not bilious green –

even though the

Red Box of Danger
has canted east and

our humble location pin
now rides the leading tip
of the ever ominous
Red Parallelogram of Peril.

  1. Thanks for the images that roll past our senses in an attempt to remind us all of the significance of weather patterns.
